Summary
Alila Ventana Big Sur is widely regarded as one of the country’s most exclusive resorts, nestled in the heart of Big Sur, California. We are excited to announce a newly created leadership position at the resort to lead our group and event experience strategy.
Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, with a dotted line to the Resort Manager & Director of Food and Beverage, The Director of Group and Events Experience is a critical role responsible for managing all aspects of client servicing for definite groups and events. Specifically, this role is tasked with leading all elements of detailing and planning of group rooms and events, acting as the on property contact for the full duration of in-house programs, overseeing banquet operations as well as total oversight and accountability in post departure operations.
Examples of responsibilities include, but are not limited to coordinating group rooming lists and room management in partnership with reservations, revenue management, and front office, banquet planning and operational deployment including the supervision of banquet associates, and post departure billing and finance coordination.
The role requires an individual with impeccable customer service skills, advanced project management experience, a deep understanding of and experience in food, beverage, and familiarity of rooms operations. The individual will need to be accustomed to working dynamic hours including weekends, evenings and holidays as the business demands. Given the hands-on nature of the position, the role requires the individual to be on-property full time. As this candidate will regularly interface with clients, it is imperative they represent the resort to the highest degree via impeccable communication and professionalism.
The salary range for this position is $70,600 to $106,000. This is the pay rate for this position at Ventana Big Sur, and Alila Resort reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factor including experience, and training levels.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of continuous experience in a luxury/ultra-luxury hotel or resort that has both rooms and event space
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hotel event planning/convention services (or similar role, where the facility has both rooms and event space
- Proven experience in food & beverage operations
- Demonstrable experience in successful project management
- A service orientated mindset
- Ability to work in a demanding and high-pressure environment with minimal daily supervision
