About the job: Provide Youth Cheerleading program instruction under the supervision and direction of the Youth Cheerleading Team Lead. Teach the rules and fundamentals of Cheerleading. Promote an environment consistent with program philosophies and goals. Job Responsibilities: Learn cheer and motions before practice so they can teach the participantsKnowledge of safe spotting techniques for stuntingHelp with set up and cleanup of practiceKnowledge of tumbling and jump techniqueAbility to communicate with participants who demonstrate a wide range of abilitiesComprehension of written practice plans/goals for the programFollowing direction of their supervisorCollaboration and communication with other coaches Utilize autonomy to lead small groups in pre-planned exercisesCommunicating with parents/guardians about a child’s performance, behavior, etc.Written communication with Head Coach and BPRD staffPotentially lifting and moving heavy equipmentDemonstrating good/proper behavior for the participantsWhen showing exercises/drills/techniqueCommunication/respect towards other coaches and Head Coach Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays from 5-7:30pm starting on March 17thPerformance on Saturday, May 10th RequirementsWhat you’ll need for success: Strong Knowledge of: Developmental stages, needs, and safety precautions for children in program.Skill and Ability to: Ability to consistently project a positive, patient, caring, and energetic demeanor. Physical ability to perform the duties associated with this position, including lifting children. Follow-through on directions.Demonstrate a strong work ethicInteract with a variety of patrons/children Communicate effectively with othersEstablish and maintain positive, respectful and cooperative relationships with all contacts. What we’re looking for: Education, Experience and Training: Must be a minimum of 15 years of age; ANDCurrently attending high school or High School Diploma or equivalent; ANDSome previous work, training/certification or volunteer experience related to positionAny satisfactory combination of education, experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above-described duties. License and Certifications: Some positions may require possession of CPR/First Aide certification to be provided through on-the-job training. Supervision Exercised: Supervision is not normally a responsibility of this position. Supervision Received: Work under the direct supervision of the JSFC Manager. Working Conditions: Depending on the program, duties may be performed either indoors or outdoors, which may include working in extreme weather conditions. Work schedule is varied and may require evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours vary depending upon specific childcare and youth program needs. The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time. Work requires continuous contact with infants, toddlers and children and requires a great deal of energy, patience and flexibility. Frequent exposure to childhood illnesses poses slight health hazard. Physical exertion includes frequent walking, bending and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted, pushing, pulling and kneeling in order to lift children, equipment and supplies. Job stress may include dealing with parents/patron, crowds, uncooperative participants, difficult individuals, exposure to illness and periods of continuous demand.
